The Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity feature an online presentation of Advent and Christmas stained glass imagery of Catholic parishes. It will be available for viewing through December at www. fscc-calledtobe. org/living/ (http://www. fscc-calledtobe. org/living/).

The images accompany the song "Bending Towards the Light", taken from "A Jazz Nativity" composed by singer and arranger Anne Phillips, with Henry Timm and Bob Kindred. The popular presentation has become an annual New York City event.

Reflecting on the cycle of Advent images, Sr. Julie Ann Sheahan observed that "...sun-light illuminates the exquisite stained glass designs of these precious parish churches, while the music and lyrics of 'Bending Towards the Light' hold a radiant energy of transforming power in their call to contemplate Jesus… Together the windows and the wonder of Christ's birth recall a brief passage from 'The Marble Faun' quoted during the Holy Father's last visit to the United States…"Christian faith is a grand cathedral, with divinely pictured windows. Standing without, you see no glory, nor can you possibly imagine any; standing within, every ray of light reveals a harmony of unspeakable splendors."

Featured parishes include St. Gabriel the Archangel in Neenah; St. John Baptist, St. Patrick and St. Mary in Menasha; Sacred Heart and St. Mary in Appleton; Holy Spirit in Kimberly; St. Paul in Combined Locks; Holy Cross and St. Katherine Drexel - St. Mary Site in Kaukauna, and Sacred Heart in Sherwood..

The "Franciscanized World" page is designed to help discerning women see the world as Saints Francis and Clare did - realistically, compassionately, finding good and holy possibility in the substance and culture of everyday life. "We want to present our life as a viable option for them. Personal invitation is always best; however, we became convinced that real conversations can begin by using the language of images and music." said " Sr. Julie Ann Sheahan, OSF

Established in 1869, the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity serve in Catholic health care, education and parish ministries in 13 U. S. dioceses (Green Bay, Superior, Milwaukee, Phoenix, Tucson, Honolulu, Chicago, Marquette, Jackson, Lincoln, Omaha, Columbus and Steubenville).
