The Digital Education Group Launches Technology Contest for K-12 Teachers

Academic consulting firm wants to know how free technologies are being used in today’s classrooms; will share results with educators.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 16, 2010

The Digital Education Group (DEG)—a new academic consulting firm specializing in 21st century classroom technology—opened its 'Innovative Technology in the Classroom Contest 1.0' to all K-12 teachers this week, encouraging educators across the country to interact and exchange instructional technology ideas.

To enter the contest, teachers are asked to describe how they creatively use a free technology—such as blogs, mobile phones or Skype—to engage students and advance achievement in the classroom. Entrants are then automatically entered into a drawing to win one of three Amazon Kindles® plus a $100 Amazon® Gift Certificate.

"Historically speaking, teachers have always been the catalyst for classroom innovation," said DEG President Mike Huling. "Day in and day out they try new strategies to engage students, many of which include free, easily-accessible technologies. Hopefully this contest will elicit a flood of great ideas, which we will freely pass along to other teachers once the winners are chosen in early May."

DEG plans to collect, publish and share all submissions to educators across the country. Those who entered the contest will be the first to have complete access to this exclusive collection of innovative ideas to use in their own classroom.

"We believe that teachers will define the 21st century classroom," added Huling. "This contest is simply an easy way for them to share ideas that work and to learn from others. And if they win a Kindle and a gift certificate in the process, then that's icing on the cake."

All entries must be submitted by April 30, 2010. Teachers should visit www. digeduc. com or DEG's Facebook page to learn more about the contest.
