MediSend International and HopeXchange Partner in Development of Centre of Excellence in Kumasi, Ghana
With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MediSend has joined in the HopeXchange Ghana Health Project

MediSend International and HopeXchange, US-based international nonprofit organizations with extensive experience working in Africa and with complementary humanitarian missions, have formed a strategic partnership to provide transformational health services in the West African country of Ghana. With the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, MediSend has joined in the HopeXchange Ghana Health Project, a collaborative healthcare initiative led by HopeXchange and a network of prominent international partners including the Catholic University of Rome Medical Center, Operation Smile, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Yale University Medical School, Moorfields Eye Hospital and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in London.
One of the main objectives of the Project is to strengthen healthcare service capacities by providing desperately needed training to local Ghanaians in the field of biomedical equipment repair and maintenance. HopeXchange reached out to MediSend, with its respected experience in biomedical equipment repair training, to jointly develop a Centre of Excellence in biomedical equipment repair at the new HopeXchange Medical Center in Kumasi, Ghana. The comprehensive MediSend Biomedical Repair Training Program™ will be the foundation of this collaborative effort. The Project will also benefit from MediSend's expertise in procuring and distributing vital biomedical equipment and medical supplies to developing countries, ongoing technical support, and the provision of Mobile Biomedical Equipment Test and Repair Kits™.
"Unfortunately, in countries of limited resources, essential biomedical equipment often goes unused or is used improperly because of the lack of professionally trained biomedical technicians," says Dr. Riccardo Masetti MD, HopeXchange Senior Medical Director. "Through this partnership with MediSend, the Project will have the opportunity to implement a coordinated program for biomedical repair training and maintenance as well as the deployment of appropriate biomedical equipment to medical institutions in Ghana."
The partnership will support medical facilities throughout Ghana commencing with the HopeXchange Medical Center. The Center is a Sub-Saharan Africa regional hub for the delivery of high quality, specialized healthcare services and advanced training in five specific areas: women's cancers, HIV, malaria, facial malformations and ophthalmology.
