Travel Adventures (http://www. traveladventures. com) is taking its highly successful Fiesta Latina program to New York City! Fiesta Latina is a cultural immersion experience complete with history, art, music, tours and authentic food. The program is in its eighth year in Chicago and has become an annual spring event for many Spanish language school groups.
The initial New York Fiesta Latina is scheduled for March 20th, 2009 and will begin with Latin dance lessons at a New York studio, followed by visits to Latino neighborhoods such as Washington Heights and Jackson Heights where the students can immerse themselves in the Hispanic culture with visits to local shops and food establishments. This provides students with an excellent opportunity to practice their Spanish language skills.
Later that day everyone will attend a matinee showing of the Broadway hit "In the Heights" - the 2008 Tony Award winning Best Musical. Following the show students will attend a special "Meet a Cast Member" group discussion.
In the evening, the Fiesta kicks off with a delicious Latin-style food station meal, followed by an exciting presentation of folkloric and modern Latin dance as well as a dance show. Once the party begins, students can dance with instructors to live music performed by a Salsa band. Contests and games will make it an exciting evening for all participants. A Mercado will offer souvenirs and t-shirts.
Fiesta student groups also have the opportunity to visit other popular New York sites such as Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Empire State Building and other New York attractions to their tour.
