The AAFP Announces New Leaders for 2011

The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) has elected Dr. Elizabeth Colleran as President, Dr. Donna Stephens Manley as President-elect, Dr. Lorraine Jarboe as Immediate Past-President, and Dr. Roy Smith as Secretary-Treasurer beginning January of 2011.

The American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) has elected Dr. Elizabeth Colleran as President, Dr. Donna Stephens Manley as President-elect, Dr. Lorraine Jarboe as Immediate Past-President, and Dr. Roy Smith as Secretary-Treasurer beginning January of 2011.

The incoming leaders for 2011 will be the stepping stone in advancing AAFP’s mission--- to improve the health and welfare of cats by supporting high standards of practice, continuing education, and scientific investigation.

“AAFP is fortunate to have the members elect an extremely talented and motivated slate of officers for 2011. This group shares a strong desire to fulfill AAFP’s goal of elevating the health care of cats, and possess the leadership, talent and strategic vision to accomplish our mission,” expressed Richard Alampi, Executive Director.

Dr. Colleran joined the AAFP in 1996 and since she has served as secretary-treasurer for three years before becoming president-elect and now incoming president. She is the owner and hospital director for Chico Hospital for Cats in Chico, CA and the Cat Hospital of Portland, which opened in 2004.

Dr. Stephens Manley has been a member of the AAFP for over 15 years. She currently serves as Chair of the Guidelines Committee. Dr. Manley is the owner of Manley Veterinary Services in Chapel Hill, NC, and focuses on shelter and companion animal medicine and surgery.

Dr. Jarboe has been a member of the AAFP since the mid 1980s. Prior to her role as president, she was a long time committee member of the Guidelines Committee and served as the first chair of the Leadership Development Committee. She is the owner of Veterinary Relief Service in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

Dr. Smith has been a member of the AAFP since 1988 and since has served in multiple volunteer roles before his current role as secretary-treasurer. He is the owner and chief of staff at Central Texas Cat Hospital in Round Rock, TX.

The AAFP has also appointed Dr. Kari Mundschenk, Dr. Marcus Brown, and Dr. Colleen Currigan as Directors for 2011-2012.
