Local Company Chosen as an eBay Ambassador

Local Company Chosen as an eBay Ambassador

Lynn MacDonald, owner of Knowledge Tree, a computer and business training company located in Manchester and Londonderry, has been chosen by eBay as their “Holiday Helper” representative for the northeast. Lynn’s unique story of her involvement with eBay because of a life-altering accident, as well as her twenty years of experience training new users on computer technology, helped to make her one of a chosen few to be flown to eBay’s corporate headquarters in San Jose, California, for specialized training in teaching the subtleties of eBay buying.

eBay University conducted a nationwide search to find twenty “Holiday Helpers” to provide free seminars throughout the holiday season. They looked for individuals with a unique mix of eBay experiences and training talents. Once selected, each has been provided with training, materials, information and support from eBay University.

Ms. MacDonaldÂ’s testimonial is attached, and can also be found along with a calendar of classes on eBayÂ’s web site with the following link: www. ebay. com/university/holidayhelper (http://www. ebay. com/university/holidayhelper). Lynn also provides seminars on eBay selling, and starting an auction-based online business.

When Lynn MacDonald of Londonderry, New Hampshire, was laid up for more than six months with a broken back and collapsed lung due to a traumatic sledding accident, eBay was much more than a hobby, it was a blessing.

“eBay was a really important part of my life at that time,” remarks MacDonald, who couldn’t walk or leave her home for months. “It sounds kind of funny, but it really was—you can only watch so much day-time television without going crazy. It was an outlet, it really kept me going.”

She adds, on a more serious note, “I don’t know if anybody can understand what it’s like to be confined. To have that way to reach out to the world was huge.”

While on the mend, MacDonald used eBay to purchase clothes for her children, interact with other shoppers and collectors, and even sell a few items. Before she knew it, she was an eBay expert in her own right and teaching visiting friends and neighbors how to buy and sell on eBay.

As the owner of a computer-training business in Manchester for the last 15 years, teaching visitors how to use eBay came easy. Now that MacDonald is back at the helm of her business, sheÂ’s continuing what she started. Not only has she earned eBayÂ’s Education Specialist certification, she has added eBay courses on buying and selling to her business software curriculum.

Additionally, she is one of 20 Education Specialists that will be “Holiday Gift Helpers” this season, selected by eBay to offer special buying seminars in their communities during the holiday season. eBay's Holiday Helpers will teach others in their community how to personalize their holiday shopping and avoid the gift-giving rut.

“Becoming an eBay Education Specialist just seemed like a wonderful fit for my background,” concludes MacDonald. “I also think it could really be a good thing for my business and attract people who normally wouldn’t be looking for computer training.”

Knowledge Tree is a business and software education company which provides classes, seminars, and professional speaking engagements on a variety of topics, including Microsoft products, PC Literacy, Training the Trainer, and public speaking.
