Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 13, 2005

Brinkster today announced that it has added Linux to its line of popular web hosting packages, after six years as a Windows only web host. The addition of Linux is part of an ongoing effort at Brinkster to offer an ever expanding line of products and services that meet the needs of todayÂ’s web hosting customer.

More Options and More Included Features

The new Linux packages include the $4.95 a month Personal, $7.95 a month Professional, and $17.95 a month Developer Plans. Each package also includes a free domain name when it is prepaid for one year.

The new Linux packages were designed to be feature packed and all inclusive. “Virtually everything you need is included in each hosting package. An example is our included shared SSL support in our $7.95 a month Professional Plan,” says Jared Stauffer, President and CEO of Brinkster.

Embracing the Open Source Community

“We are excited to take our same developer community focused offerings to the Linux community. Linux users will feel right at home at Brinkster,” adds Ben Chambers, VP of Marketing.

Brinkster has always placed special emphasis on providing developers with the tools they need to succeed. The Brinkster Forums have been a popular place to get help with tens of thousands of customers posting over 85,000 messages in the last six years. The Brinkster CodeBank is also a treasure trove of time saved with almost one thousand individual code samples contributed by Brinkster customers.

“One of the most exciting parts of our developer focus is the free Educational hosting plan we offer,” comments Jared Stauffer, President and CEO of Brinkster. “We expect to offer a Linux version of the Educational Plan late in the third quarter of this year.”

The Educational Plan is a free hosting account that provides an ideal environment for people of various experience levels to test and hone their skills in HTML and MicrosoftÂ’s ASP and ASP. NET.
