The Women's Dermatologic Society (WDS), http://www. playsafeinthesun. org (http://www. playsafeinthesun. org), will participate in the 2005 California Governor and First Lady's Conference on Women and Families on Thursday, October 27 to spread the word about skin cancer prevention and provide free skin cancer screenings and education to conference attendees. The California public is invited to learn more about skin cancer prevention from dermatologists in Long Beach participating in the WDS "Families Play Safe in the Sun" campaign at the Aquarium of the Pacific, Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th, 9 am-4 pm.

The American Cancer Society reports that one American dies every 68 minutes from melanoma. "Whether you are Governor, First Lady, or a citizen young or old, practicing sun safety daily can help reduce the incidence of skin cancer," states WDS member Suzanne M. Connolly, MD.
