MacSpecialist, Chicagoland’s largest Authorized Apple Reseller, Service Provider and Training Center, is hosting “Reboot” an annual consumer electronics recycling event. On Saturday, May 16th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, area residents will be able to recycle their unused computers and other consumer electronic equipment at MacSpecialist. This event is free to the public, unlike others of it kind. Located at 234 West Roosevelt Road in Villa Park, Illinois, in the Villa Oaks Shopping Center, MacSpecialist is tucked behind the Guitar Center. MacSpecialist has been serving the Apple Computer community for almost 25 years, long before Apple opened its own corporate-owned stores.

MacSpecialist has built a reputation of serving its customers in an extraordinary fashion. “MacSpecialist is a ‘one-stop-shop’ for our customers with our ability to help our customers beginning with pre-purchase consultation and continuing through purchase, training and service,” stated Dustin Templeton, Director of Sales and Marketing. Templeton added, “when our customers started asking about a responsible way to dispose of their old machines we set up a day for them to do just that.”

MacSpecialist held its first Reboot event in August 2007 with overwhelming success, “Reboot has grown consistently over the few years we have been hosting it. We have recycled almost 55,000 pounds of consumer electronics over the past two years,” stated Kevin Shea, Training Manager. “We are proud to be hosting our third annual recycling event.”

Reboot allows any visitors to drop off qualifying old computers and other consumer electronics equipment at the MacSpecialist store in Villa Park. MacSpecialist is providing this service to the public at no charge. For more information and to find out what a detailed listing of equipment that will be accepted, visit http://www. macspecialist. com/special-event. php? eventID=24 (http://www. macspecialist. com/special-event. php? eventID=24).

At Reboot, MacSpecialist visitors that drop off recyclables will receive a free promotional value card for use at one of MacSpecialist’s two retail locations. These value cards are worth $5-1000. Visitors can only find out the worth of their promotional value card at the time of a purchase at a MacSpecialist location. Value cards are valid until May 30, 2010.

Visitors will also be able to make a monetary donation, 100% of which will be given to the Conservation Foundation of DuPage County and the National Resources Defense Council. The minimum donation will be five dollars, and every person who donates will be entered into a raffle to win a variety of prizes including one of several green iPod Nanos. In addition to the raffle donations, a portion of the proceeds from the day’s sales will also be donated.

“To ensure this event runs smoothly,” said Templeton, “we have again joined forces with MRK Group of Elgin, Illinois. People can be sure that when people drop off their equipment at MacSpecialist, the equipment will be recycled or disposed of properly.” Founded in 1991, MRK Group, Ltd. has been working with Fortune 500 Corporations and other businesses, education and government institutions around the country managing their excess and obsolete technology.
