Barnes and Noble Inc. is currently hosting an exhibition of paintings by the artist/painter Chitra Ramanathan. Chitra's recent public art commission involved creating two 4' by 6' conceptual paintings for the MGM Mirage Group for permanent display in their Cafe Bellagio in Las Vegas. Ramanathan is best known for her mixed media conceptual abstract large-scale acrylic paintings.

The exhibition showcases a total of eight pieces from Chitra's body of conceptual mixed media acrylic paintings on the theme of universal happiness, in her signature style.

Chitra Ramanathan has held solo and group exhibitions of her paintings on Broadway, New York since 1995, following a major one-person exhibition at ARC Gallery/Educational Foundation, Chicago in 1994. Many of her paintings are with private and public collections around the United States and in Europe.

An academically trained professional artist, Chitra holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting with honors, and a Masters degree in Business Administration both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. Several online galleries feature her biography and images of her colorful, primarliy large mixed media acrylic paintings in her signature style.

Currently, Chitra Ramanathan is an Art Center Faculty (Painting) at the Indianapolis Art Center, a Services to Artists Committee member of the College Art Association of America, NY, an artist-member of the Indianapolis Arts Council, and member/volunteer of the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
