Computer scientist Dennis Foster, of Honaunau, Hawaii, an internationally recognized expert in computer artificial intelligence, airline technology, and franchising, will be the keynote speaker at Tourism 2004, to be held in multiple cities worldwide in December and January. The CEO of Mundus Technologies, the world's largest software development company in the global airline, travel, and hotel industries, Mr. Foster will address the complex cultural and environmental challenges facing the global tourism industry today. Mr. Foster, whose work has been cited by the Nations Environment Program and the Hawaii Tourism Authority, will discuss methods of balancing the needs of international tourism with those of conservation and cross-cultural awareness, a theme he introduced in university textbooks he wrote for McGraw-Hill Publishing. He is the author of 35 nonfiction books on computer science, travel and tourism, hotel management, business development, and finance.

Dennis Foster commutes from his home on the Big Island to offices in 81 countries on all five continents. Mundus's network of global partners include Cendant, Inc., the parent company of the Galileo travel reservation system, Avis, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, and Century 21 Real Estate. Together with Galileo, Marriott, British Airways, Avis, and Hewlett-Packard, Mundus co-sponsors an annual competition honoring the most outstanding university student majoring in tourism studies. Mundus, named for the Latin world for "world" has the largest customer base of any post-secondary educational software developer.

Mr. Foster is an acknowledged authority on computer artificial intelligence (AI), global tourism, hotel management, and business development. He has received commendations from the Latin American Tourism Conference, the South Africa Tourism Authority, Pan American University, and the British Society of Literary Fellows. Prior to acquiring Mundus Technologies, he was the president of The Development Group, based in San Francisco, and chairman of the board of directors of Franchise Associates International, Inc.

Dennis Foster is one of America's most published nonfiction authors. He has written over 2,000 magazine articles and 35 books, including three bestsellers and nine book-club selections. Nine of his books have been translated into foreign languages, including Japanese, Russian, French, and Spanish. He also edited or ghost-wrote numerous books on behalf of other authors, including such titles as Harrison's Textbook of Internal Medicine and The Great Restaurants of France.

As an artist, Dennis Foster has exhibited paintings, drawings, and sculptures in numerous galleries and museums nationwide. He was awarded First Prize by the Phoenix Art Museum for a work that he had thrown away. Another work that he discarded was exhibited at the New York Museum of Modern Art. A watercolor painting he disposed of was retrieved by a gallery owner and ended up on national television. His oil paintings have been featured in one-man exhibitions in Los Angeles, Arizona, and Oregon.
