SAN JOSE, Calif. – September 5, 2002 – San Jose Families, a website dedicated to family-building activities in the San Jose area, today announced that it has presented its first “Families’ Finest” award to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for September 2002. The award recognizes excellence in family-friendly activities, events, and features offered in the Bay Area.
“The Monterey Bay Aquarium’s entire approach is with the family in mind,” said Stacy Oliver, founder of San Jose Families. “We want to encourage those who take such great efforts to educate and entertain our kids. The aquarium has consistently provided programs that create an interest in our environment and wildlife with children.”
“We’re honored to be the first recipients of this award,” said Cynthia Vernon, the aquarium’s vice president of education and conservation programs. “We work hard to create a place where families can be inspired by ocean life. It’s rewarding to have those efforts recognized by San Jose Families.”
