Manufacturing and Marketing: The M&M's That Compete

Manufacturing and Marketing: The M&M's That Compete

Manufacturers need to know how APICS helps them compete. The Atlanta chapter of APICS has a new VP of Marketing to help get the word out to companies and individuals in North Georgia.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 10, 2008

Sandra Noble, president of NOBLE & ASSOCIATES CONSULTING, INC, is elected VP of Marketing for APICS Atlanta Chapter. Sandra and her committee are putting marketing programs in place to spread the word about APICS in North Georgia.

The secret weapon for competing - APICS. The organization's name, APICS, has gone through a couple of transformations. Originally APICS stood for the Association of Production and Inventory Control Systems. Then it was dubbed: The Educational Society for Resource Management. And as of January 2005, it is APICS The Association For Operations Management. So why the changes? The current name and tag line reflects the expanded value that the organization brings in terms of leadership, education and certification to a variety of companies and individuals. Certified members perform industrial, manufacturing, service, process improvement, consulting and supply chain functions.

APICS mission is to help its manufacturing and other members compete. APICS offers three internationally recognized certification programs, Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) (http://www. apics. org/Certification/CPIM/default. htm), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) (http://www. apics. org/Certification/CSCP/default. htm), and Certified in Integrated Resource Management (CIRM) (http://www. apics. org/Certification/CIRM/default. htm). APICS certification holders have demonstrated commitment to professional excellence and quality, which should translate into more efficient operations in their respective industries. In these tough economic times, businesses are seeking ways to get a competitive edge. The role of marketing is to get the word out about the benefits of participating in the educational programs and of being members of APICS.

The APICS Atlanta Chapter's new VP of Marketing, Sandra Noble, was APICS certified as CPIM about 15 years ago. Her path and career was not typical of those certified in the 1990s. Sandra was and is an IT professional. The motivation for her certification was being a part of a Center of Expertise which was positioned to be implementers of the mainframe version of SAP software. Fast forward to 2008 and Sandra Noble is president and CEO of her own business / management / IT consulting company - Noble & Associates Consulting, Inc. Since Noble & Associates Consulting, Inc provides business analysis and other consulting services for manufacturing and other businesses where APICS certification is recognized, Sandra sees value in maintaining her APICS CPIM certification.

In additional to traditional IT services, Noble & Associates Consulting, Inc now offers internet marketing classes and consulting. "I was pleased to be elected VP of Marketing for the Atlanta Chapter of APICS, since it gives me the opportunity to demonstrate my capabilities in the marketing arena." Noble said. "Since there is so much competition, marketing and a marketing program are essential requirements for any business and / or organization." she added.

The APICS organization provides tremendous value to those who know about it. Marketing's role is to increase awareness. The VP of Marketing is tasked with 1) increasing participation in APICS and 2) developing a message about the competitive advantage to manufacturers and other companies. Sandra Noble has signed up to lead the charge at the Atlanta Chapter.
