Manhattan cosmetic surgeon (http://www. eskfps. com/About-Us/nyc-plastic-surgeon/) Dr. Edward Kwak has partnered up with the Faces of Honor Program, an outreach effort coordinated by The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery dedicated to thanking service members for physical sacrifices made while in the line of duty.
"As a member of this academy and as a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, I wanted to express my appreciation to these individuals who have made incredible sacrifices for me, my loved ones, and this country," says Dr. Kwak, a specialist in facial cosmetic surgery procedures.
The purpose of Faces of Honor is to offer pro bono medical and surgical expertise to veterans who were deployed in Iraq or Afghanistan and received face or neck injuries. Such injuries include; repair of facial fractures, scar revisions, restoring function to the eye, nose, mouth, and repairing jaw fractures.
"Wounded veterans who have made the ultimate sacrifice must face daily reminders of the injuries sustained during duty," says Dr. Kwak. "My goal for participating in the Faces of Honor Program is to help these veterans recover lost function or better erase these physical reminders."
The Faces of Honor Program (http://www. facesofhonor. org/) is a part of Face To Face programs. Face To Face was founded in 1992 as a humanitarian and educational surgical exchange program conducted under the sponsorship of The Educational and Research Foundation for the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).
In the United States and abroad, AAFPRS surgeons provide complimentary care to those who suffer from facial deformities caused by birth or trauma. The Face To Face program offers individuals the opportunity to overcome the physical limitations placed on them by circumstances beyond their control - deformities at birth, domestic violence, and war. AAFPRS surgeons use their expertise to perform plastic and reconstructive surgery of the face, head, and neck.
