Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 5, 2008

The Human Capital Institute (HCI), a global education and professional association that defines excellence and establishes standards for the new business science of strategic talent management, now offers business professionals opportunities to expand their knowledge and transform their organizations through participation in the one-of-a-kind Human Capital Strategist (HCS™) Designation Program (http://www. humancapitalinstitute. org/hci/edu_designation_program. guid). The HCS designation, which indicates an individual has attained the highest level of qualification in human capital and talent management, is available exclusively through HCI's online Center for Human Capital Excellence, www. humancapitalinstitute. org].

"Professionals at all organizational levels, from the C-suite and HR leaders to sales executives and line managers, are realizing that talent management skills are critical to success in the global marketplace," said David Forman, HCI's Chief Learning Officer. "The HCS Program provides a solid grounding in strategic talent management and teaches how to implement leading-edge strategies in a variety of real-world situations."

HCS: A LIVING PROGRAM GROUNDED IN RESEARCH
The HCS and Master HCS (MHCS) designations were created for individuals seeking to deepen their professional knowledge and skills through both classroom education as well as real-world, practical applications. Based on the emerging science of talent management, the HCS designation is the only program of its type requiring students to complete a practicum in which they apply their learning to real-life business problems.

HCI's blended learning approach focuses on the eight integrated components of the talent lifecycle. It exposes designees to talent management theories and practices, including learning online, through written research and case studies, by collaborating with other professionals, and through executing an operational aspect of a human capital plan and talent initiatives within their organization. Students enrolled in the designation programs include executives, professionals and consultants, as well as employees of various functional areas such as human resources, human capital and talent management, business line management, recruiting and learning and development.

"The HCS designation program is dedicated to putting into practice the concepts and skills learned during coursework, through research and during collaborative discussion with mentors and fellow students," said Doug Lyons, HCI's Chief Operations Officer. "Every course has not only content, but follow-up action and activity related to the course topic. From day one, the HCS designee can immediately deploy new learning in the work environment, thanks to a variety of tools, playbooks, workbooks, activities, exercises and other assignments. HCS designees really learn to live the talent mindset: Throughout the program they resolve real problems with practical solutions, learned in class and applied at work."

HCS AND MHCS COURSEWORK AND SPECIALIZATIONS
HCI awards the HCS designation to individuals and collaborative teams who demonstrate a commitment to understanding and utilizing talent strategies and best practices in their organizations. Participants begin the program with two Leadership Transformation courses, followed by their choice of one of three function courses. Courses are delivered onsite or via HCI's Online Center for Human Capital Excellence by seasoned practitioners and graduate school faculty. Expert mentors provide encouragement and coaching throughout the program.

After completing required coursework and satisfactorily passing exams, each candidate must also complete a Human Capital Plan and Practicum: a small-scale case study of how the student has effectively applied what he or she has learned in the real business environment.

HCS recipients who wish to further refine their knowledge may complete a 5-course specialty Certificate in Strategic Human Capital Management, Organizational Effectiveness, Strategic Talent Leadership or Recruitment Leadership. Upon satisfactory completion of the Certificate, which consists of five specialized courses, candidates are awarded the Master HCS certification.

All courses leading to the HCS designation are also approved for Human Resource Certification Institute [HRCI] recertification credit.

"I continue to be impressed by the caliber of HCS candidates and recipients, and the organizations they represent," said Forman. "We count HCS designees in major industries including insurance, airlines, financial services, consulting, utilities, technology and others." Some leading organizations with on-staff HCS designees include Allstate Insurance, American Airlines, Chevron, Countrywide Financial, Pepperdine, United Airlines and the U. S. Army.
