The 451 Group Appoints Wendy Nather as Senior Analyst in the Enterprise Security Practice

Independent IT Analyst Firm Adds Well-Known Executive Practitioner and Thought Leader to Security Team

New York, NY (PRWEB) September 21, 2010

The 451 Group has added Wendy Nather, most recently Information Security Officer at the Texas Education Agency, to its Enterprise Security Practice. As Senior Analyst, Nather's coverage areas will include application security and security services. Nather joins the team headed by Joshua Corman, Research Director, Enterprise Security Practice, and will work alongside current Senior Security Analysts Steve Coplan and Andrew Hay.

"Like an information security E. F. Hutton, when Wendy speaks, people listen," said Corman. "I had the privilege of working with Wendy in my CISO research and collaborations over the last few years. She is tremendously respected [and leveraged] in the InfoSec thought leadership community. I'm excited to both give her grounded wisdom a broader platform and have her be a force multiplier for our growing team of nontraditional 'security analysts with street credibility.'"

Nather joins the 451 team with more than 20 years of experience as an IT security practitioner in financial services and state government agencies. In her position with the Texas Education Agency, Nather directed multimillion-dollar initiatives for a statewide external user base of over 50,000, and provided security guidance for the datacenter consolidation of 27 Texas state agencies.

"As a former practitioner, I'm interested in the process of security," said Nather, "why CISOs buy security technology, how they use it, and how organizational differences make it work or fail."

Prior to her role at the Texas Education Agency, Nather worked in the investment banking division of Swiss Bank Corporation (now UBS). In various positions, she helped to build Europe's then-largest private trading floor. Based in Chicago, Zurich and London, she also served as the first IT Security Director for the EMEA region, managing the security aspects of various mergers, IT operations outsourcing, and the division's first Internet presence.

Nather lives in Austin, Texas, where she will work remotely for her position with The 451 Group.
