B. Eliot Cole Resigns from Aventine HealthSciences and American Society of Pain Educators to pursue publishing and teaching opportunities.

Eliot Cole, MD, MPA, CPE, an Aventine executive since 2004, has resigned effective immediately.
Aventine HealthSciences also currently serves as the management company of the American Society of Pain Educators (ASPE), and Dr. Cole has simultaneously resigned from his position of Executive Director of the ASPE.
Dr. Cole will return to the western U. S. to pursue his two greatest passions—writing and teaching—fulltime.
“Working with ASPE to create a national pain organization whose singular focus is education has been enormously rewarding. Because of our efforts there is now a Certified Pain Educator credential available to healthcare providers who see the future of clinical pain management. I will always be proud of my association with Aventine HealthSciences, who conceptualized and supported the vision and manifestation of the ASPE and Certified Pain Educator,” said Dr. Cole
Prior, Dr. Cole had been Director of Medical Education at the American Academy of Pain Management, an organization that he helped to found and grow for over 18 years.
“Dr. Cole’s commitment and focus have been instrumental to the growth of the ASPE and he has single-handedly raised the bar for pain management education. We wish him well in his new endeavor," said Debra Weiner, Managing Partner of Aventine Co. and member of the Board of Directors for the ASPE.
The Board plans to explore a full range of options as it considers an appropriate successor.
