Career Step Helps Over 200 Military Spouses Gain Training for High-Growth, Portable Careers

Career Step has now helped over 200 military spouses gain training for high-growth, portable careers paid for entirely by the Department of Defense.

Provo, Utah (PRWEB) June 25, 2009

Career Step, a leading online healthcare education company, has now helped over 200 (number increasing daily) military spouses gain training for high-growth, portable careers paid for entirely by the Department of Defense's Military Spouse Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) education funding program. The 200th military spouse was helped through the MyCAA approval and Career Step enrollment process June 24.

"This is a phenomenal opportunity for military spouses," said Michael Wilstead, Career Step's CEO. "Many military spouses struggle to find a successful career path because of how often they move, and it can be hard for military spouses to complete conventional schooling as they're handling deployments and the unique needs of military families. The MyCAA funds have allowed Career Step to help more military spouses receive flexible training that prepares them for portable careers in the growing healthcare industry."

The MyCAA program is designed to support military spouses by providing them $6,000 for training in high-growth, portable career fields. The funds are available to the spouses of active duty and activated National Guard and Military Reserve service members worldwide. To learn more about the MyCAA program and qualification requirements, visit www. careerstep. com/prmycaa (http://www. careerstep. com/prmycaa).

Using MyCAA funds, over 200 military spouses have enrolled with Career Step and are training in medical transcription or medical coding and billing. Both of these careers are classified as high-growth sectors by the Department of Labor and provide spouses career options wherever they are stationed. Those interested in learning more about the available Career Step training programs and the outlook for these fields can visit www. careerstep. com/prmycaa (http://www. careerstep. com/prmycaa).

"We're working hard to help military spouses progress through the MyCAA approval process," said Mike Hodgson, Career Step's Vice President of Enrollments. "Our Career Step counselors are working one-on-one with military spouses to walk them through the process. Spouses can also find a helpful step-by-step checklist on CareerStep's MyCAA dedicated website."

Career Step counselors are available during extended business hours (7:00 a. m. to 6:30 p. m. MDT, Monday through Friday) at 1-800-246-7837. Visit www. careerstep. com/prmycaa (http://www. careerstep. com/prmycaa) for more information and a step-by-step MyCAA application guide.
