Pearson Brings Home the Gold in Premier Educational Publishing Industry Awards Program
Four Programs Honored With 2010 Association of Educational Publishers Awards
New York, NY (Vocus) June 16, 2010
Pearson, the global leader in education, technology and services, swept the 2010 Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) Awards by coming home with four honors from the long-standing industry recognition program. Three of the company's products were honored with Distinguished Achievement Awards and Pearson also earned a Beacon Award for excellence in education marketing.
For more than four decades, the AEP Awards have honored outstanding resources for teaching and learning, such as the premier offerings from Pearson honored this year. One of the largest and longest running recognition programs in the educational publishing industry, the annual AEP Awards mark the standard for quality, professional educational products and excellence in education marketing.
Representing Pearson at the awards ceremony, Senior Vice President Kathy Hurley said, "All of the Pearson programs honored in this year's AEP Awards competition reflect our commitment to leveraging the power of technology combined with proven instructional strategies to personalize learning and improve student achievement. We believe that technology truly has the power to transform learning and are honored to be recognized for our innovations by our peers in the education publishing industry."
AEP bestowed Distinguished Achievement Awards on Pearson's Every Teacher’s Toolkit, myWorld Geography™ and WriteToLearn™ 5.3. As the largest segment of the program, the Distinguished Achievement Awards honor the year’s best products for excellence in efficacy, usability and overall educational value.
Every Teacher’s Toolkit from Pearson Longman was honored in the Curriculum, ESL/ELL Instruction, Grades 9-12 category. Designed to be used seamlessly alongside existing classroom materials, this print and CD-ROM resource is a one-stop resource that helps teachers boost English learners’ academic achievement and English proficiency across the curriculum.
myWorld Geography won the Distinguished Achievement Award for Curriculum, Social Studies, Grades K-5 category. A digitally driven social studies program, myWorld Geography allows students in grades K-8 to develop a deeper understanding of the world by making personal connections to the people and places about which they are learning.
WriteToLearn™, a Web-based learning tool that helps students develop writing and reading comprehension skills, won the Distinguished Achievement Award for Technology and New Media, Assessment Tools, Grades 6-8. Used for instruction and assessment, WriteToLearn is the only writing development product that gives students the immediate, targeted feedback necessary to develop reading comprehension and writing skills -- skills that are critical for academic success.
In AEP's awards program for excellence in education marketing, the Beacon Awards, Pearson was honored for its "Scott Foresman Reading Street 2011" overview brochure. "Scott Foresman Reading Street 2011" is an all new-comprehensive reading and language arts series that delivers classic and soon-to-be classic literature, scientifically based instruction and groundbreaking online experiences to engage students in learning. The company took a new approach to marketing the newest update of this proven language arts program by highlighting the most cutting-edge research on reading instruction in the brochure, focusing on the work of the program's world-renowned author team.
