Strategy and Technology Leader Chris Cairns brings public and private sector expertise to True North Equities, LLC. Cairns will manage strategy and technology initiatives at the Chicago-based private equity firm as it acquires and rapidly grows businesses in its target sectors.

True North Equities, a growing private equity firm, has named Chris Cairns to the position of Director of Strategy and Technology. In this position, Mr. Cairns will oversee the firm’s strategic direction and manage technology decisions for its portfolio of companies.

True North Equities focuses on acquiring, developing and growing small - to mid-size companies, principally in the Aerospace & Defense, Cyber Security, Healthcare, Intelligence and Homeland Security areas. This private equity firm develops and implements aggressive growth plans to enhance and expand acquired companies.

Prior to joining True North Equities, Mr. Cairns served as IT Strategic Planning Manager at the Department of Homeland Security’s, Office of CIO, Immigration and Customs Enforcement. In this role, he managed the delivery of strategic planning, programmatic and technical services to a multibillion-dollar portfolio of programs and projects. Prior to DHS, Mr. Cairns served at SAIC, IBM Global Business Services, and Unisys corporations in various strategy and technology roles.
Mr. Cairns holds multiple Bachelor Degrees from Pennsylvania State University, where he graduated summa cum laude. At the Pennsylvania State University, Mr. Cairns was selected by prestigious National Security Education Program (NSEP) to serve as a Boren Scholar in Beijing, China. He is also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society.
