Manipal Academy of Higher Education (Manipal) today announced a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hewlett-Packard India Sales Pvt. Ltd. (HP). This is to enhance the campus computing experience of students and to support creation of ‘Centre of Excellence in Pharmacogenomics’ at Manipal Campus.

Campus computing initiative includes setting up “Hotspots” on the campus; new Imaging and Printing solutions and creating a Network Management Lab at Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT).

HP would design and install wireless hotspots in the Manipal campus enabling internet access either through handheld or other mobile devices like laptops.

For Imaging and Printing solutions, Manipal Press is working towards adopting HP “Indigo” technology. This technology will be incorporated in syllabus of BE and ME course in Printing & Media Engineering at MIT, Manipal.

HP is setting up a Network Management Lab that monitors and manages the entire ‘Manipal’ IT network. It is customized for student training. A unique course is being designed, to expand knowledge base in network management, leading to a master’s degree at MIT, Manipal.

Centre of Excellence (COE) in Pharmacogenomics is under creation by KMC Life Sciences Centre, medical research wing of ‘Manipal’. It will research new Pharma and Biotech products, using the genomics platform. Genomic research requires analysis of large amount of clinical data, which is varied and in complex sets. A HP platform has been selected by ‘Manipal’.
