Farming with the whole of Europe
A new service for UK farmers offering pickers, farmworkers, and seasonal labour introduced by Slovak company Aston Ltd. under the tradename Farmhands Service
(PRWEB) May 16, 2005
The first experience with UK farming came during university studies when Marian Bridik needed money to finance his education and fun life as well. Although the first farming stay, picking strawberries and apples, was not the greatest in terms of earnings, the atmosphere appealed and the idea came later.
Further visits improved the overall understanding and general workings of a farm and the hard work that needs to be put in. Combined with the international atmosphere and the different nationalities, the experience of coming to work on a farm turned out to be enjoyable and filled with fun not only for the student but for the farmer as well.
Knowing the requirements of both sides, the farmers and the students, it came natural, and with the European Union even possible, to put the idea to work.
The Farmhands service is offered to uk farming enterprises or agricultural entities that require summer student workers. The businesses need to have appropriate social amenities and accommodation. Representatives of Farmhands visit and make documentation so that there are no misunderstandings in later cooperation.
Once the farmer signs a contract with Farmhands which specifies number of students and arrival dates, there is no further things to worry about. All confirmations and paperwork is done by the agency and the farm receives the student details by the end of February. The agency charges a non refundable commitment fee of 100 GBP and 40 GBP for every student requested. Further information is available at www. farmhands. co. uk.
The interest so far is great with contracted places as of June at around 300 for the summer 2005 season. The interest from students is outstripping demand by 10 times at a fee equal to about one weeks salary. The target now is to establish quality relationships with good farms and grow the contracted places to 2000 to 2500 while lowering the placement fee.
