Revolutionary Music Ttuition Software Gains DfES Approval for Use in Schools

Take Note Publishing's popular music theory software has be given approval by the Secretary of State for education for use in schools.

(PRWEB) July 28, 2005

Music teachers can now obtain this interactive software for their schools using their elearning credits, via the Curriculum Online website.

Launched by the DfES in January 2003, Curriculum Online (www. curriculumonline. gov. uk) is a highly searchable, online catalogue of thousands of multimedia resources, all linked to the curriculum of subjects taught in schools in England.

C. A.T. S (Computer Aided Theory Skills) guides the student through the various elements of music theory, including pitch, rhythm, key and time signatures, musical terms, scales, chords and transposition. It is an invaluable tool to students learning any musical instrument or singing, and helps with musical understanding at all levels. The software has both information and testing modules, with over 25,000 possible questions chosen at random.

Alan Brown, Software Developer and Director of Take Note Publishing, said "We are delighted to have gained this approval from the DfES. Our C. A.T. S software has been a popular resource for independent music teachers for several years. Music theory is an often neglected subject due to time constraints, with teachers spending the majority of their time on the technical side of playing a musical instrument. This software goes a long way in helping with music education, allowing the student to learn and practice at their own pace."
