This summer you can get your child away from the video games and hand held devices, and let him experience the power of nature. Camp Green, a clean energy learning camp for youth, is now presenting summer sessions from July – August 23rd. 2010

Located on the Sharmar Ranch in Guinda CA, on 20 beautiful acres, Camp Green is a fabulous eco-experience where children from urban communities are able to connect with nature. Children can increase their awareness of the environment and clean energy through instruction and interaction. Camp Green has put together a team of experts and educators in the fields of green energy, organic agriculture, and camp recreation to create a place of sharing, learning, exploration and fun.

Camp Green was founded by alternative energy entrepreneur, Marvin Wilcher. Wilcher, who has been in the solar business for over 5 years has focused much of his time investing as well as educating communities on renewable energy, He soon began developing training programs for adults who wanted to learn more about this emerging industry. After some thought, it became clear that young people would also benefit if they learned first hand the advantages and opportunities in alternative energy.

“I hope that we can spark something within them. In the middle of all this magnificence at Camp Green, they will acknowledge the power of the sun and that it is our key source of energy” states Wilcher.” We also want our campers to start thinking about how they can contribute to society. They can each play a part in developing a positive future for our planet.”

A typical day a Camp Green would include lessons on farming, agriculture, solar and wind energy. Classes are facilitated by leading professionals and business owners. There is plenty of outdoor recreation such as swimming, horseback riding, basketball or volleyball. The activity packed day would end with the traditional campfire and campfire activities.

Camp Green weekly sessions are held from Monday morning to Friday afternoon. Transportation to the site is available from Oakland and Sacramento but parents are welcome to bring their children. Speaking of adults, the Sharmar Ranch is also a great place for company retreats, adult camping nights, and special events year round.
