Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 13, 2009

The Human Capital Institute (HCI) (http://www. hci. org), a global professional association and think tank that is advancing the science of strategic talent management, and leading talent management solutions provider Camden Consulting Group (http://www. camdenconsulting. com) will announce the results of a key new talent study, the Greater Boston Area Talent Markets Report 2009, on June 15, 2009 at the Talent Management Forum for Greater Boston (http://www. hci. org/hci/forums_talent_mgt_boston_2009.guid), an event created to help organizations better understand and improve the region's talent market.

The report examines a number of key themes than can help Boston-area employers better understand the critical factors that their current and potential talent look for in a place to live and work. Key report findings include:
Boston-area employers experience significantly fewer barriers to acquiring and retaining talent than the national average. Boston employers are usually successful at finding talent with most critical knowledge competencies. Boston employers have difficulty finding enough talent with education in computer science -- however they do not have difficulty finding talent with most other educational backgrounds.

The study also looks at the Greater Boston talent market from employees' perspectives, with findings that include:

Safe neighborhoods are the single most important factor influencing Boston employees' choice of where to live. Boston employees are a highly educated, successful, and skilled subset of the region's total workforce. Boston employees put place first and job second when choosing where to live -- in fact, 72% of employee respondents to the survey have lived in the Greater Boston area for 15 or more years.

The Talent Management Forum for Greater Boston, the event at which the Greater Boston Area Talent Markets Report 2009 will be released, will take place Monday, June 15, 2009 from 7:30 a. m. to 11:30 a. m. at the Millennium Bostonian Hotel. National and regional leaders will convene to discuss regional talent branding and to review the HCI study. Speakers from top employers such as State Street Corp., Novartis, EMC, and Raytheon will convey priorities and collaborate with leaders across business, government and academia to drive talent competitiveness in the region.

Keynote speaker, Stephen Pagliuca, Managing Partner and Executive Committee Member of the Boston Celtics, will explain how the Boston Celtics and Bain Capital have embraced and practiced talent management to gain a competitive advantage and create success in their very different arenas. He will also describe the common challenges organizations face today, whether they are in the world of high finance or professional sports, including the common threads in assembling, motivating and retaining talent.
