Chitra Ramanathan, a U. S. citizen, has held several solo and group exhibitions in the United States, notably on Broadway, New York City since 1995, beginning with a major solo exhibition at Chicago's ARC Gallery/Educational Foundation in 1994. Her work was well-received in New York resulting in rave reviews, and several of her mostly large-scale, conceptual mixed media abstact paintings in her signature style that she is known for, are now with collections around the United States and in Europe.
An academically trained professional artist, Chitra earned her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts with Honors in Painting and her Masters degree in Business Administration, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, U. S.A.
A committee member of the College Art Association of America, New York, Chitra recently completed a major commission for the MGM Mirage Group in August 2004 for their Cafe Bellagio located inside the Conservatory of the Hotel Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada. This entailed creating two four feet by six feet paintings for permanent display in the interior of the Cafe Bellagio as of October 2004.
