Full Sail Real World Education is proud to announce that Film Graduate, Erik Adolphson, was recently awarded “Best in Show Documentary” at the American Pavilion Student Filmmaker Program at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

During a three-day orientation, 50 students were trained on Adobe’s desktop digital video and audio tools, matched with mentors, and broken into 14 collaborative teams. The teams produced a three-minute broadcast reporting the activities in the American Pavilion, a five-minute documentary on Cannes and the festival, and a motion logo for the American Pavilion Student Filmmaker Program.

The inspiration for Adolphson’s documentary “Cannes Food,” is a look at the Cannes Film Festival as seen through the eyes of two student chefs peering out through the kitchen door. A short documentary highlighting their experience at films greatest gathering in one of cuisines' most celebrated regions.

In addition to winning “Best in Show Documentary,” Adolphson also won the “Emerging Director” Award. “I have been afforded some wonderful opportunities. Creating the piece ‘Cannes Food’ in two short weeks, while simultaneously experiencing the worlds foremost collection of new film, was a challenge. However, my education at Full Sail had prepared me well for working under very real, very short, deadlines.”

Adolphson is working on his second documentary and has recently attended SIGGRAPH in Boston with the Adobe Design Achievement Award winners. “Full Sail has given me an insight into these disciplines that has made it possible for me to capture and understand the world of these artists.”
