Pilipino Alumni Association of UCLA Fourth Annual Benefit Dinner ÂBreaking Through, Reaching Higher APRIL 17, 2004
The Pilipino Alumni Association of the University of California, Los Angeles (PAA of UCLA) will celebrate its 4th Annual Fundraising Benefit on Saturday, April 17, 2004, 5 p. m. to midnight, at the Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Westside in Culver City, California.
LOS ANGELES, CA (PRWEB) February 14, 2004
With the theme, ÂBreaking Through, Reaching Higher, PAA aims to raise the involvement and aspirations of the UCLA Pilipino alumni, community members, and friends to make a lasting impact in the community. Expected to be PAAÂs largest event yet, the Benefit will include a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner and dancing. Live presentations of Philippine songs and cultural dances will also entertain Benefit attendees. Proceeds from the Benefit will foster the establishment of an endowment for scholarships that recognize and applaud outstanding students at UCLA.
Since its inception, PAA has raised funds for scholarships awarded to exemplary UCLA undergraduates who excel academically and provide leadership and service in the Pilipino community. For the past four years, PAA has been determined to establish a permanent endowment that will support and increase scholarships that help ensure that students in the Pilipino community at UCLA attain their academic goals, thus benefiting the community at large.
In addition to raising funds, the 4th Annual Fundraising Benefit will also acknowledge the achievements and outstanding leadership by our alumni and other members of the Pilipino community. As in previous years, we will recognize three outstanding individuals with the following awards: Distinguished Alumnus of the Year, Distinguished Young Alumnus of the Year, and the Royal Morales Community Achievement Award. Information about this yearÂs award recipients, including highlights of their achievements, will be available in mid-March 2004.

About PAA
To address the need for a network of Pilipino graduates and professionals, the Pilipino Alumni Association (PAA) of UCLA was conceived in the summer of 1991 and founded in 1993. PAA is an organization whose mission is to provide a vehicle through which alumni, faculty, staff, and friends of UCLA may meaningfully support each other, the UCLA Pilipino community, and the community at-large. In bridging the gap between Pilipino students and alumni, PAA promotes academic success, career development, and community activism. In bringing alumni together for a common cause, we build a foundation of professionals with the growing strength to institute positive change in our community. PAA also seeks to provide a vehicle through which alumni may provide educational scholarship and career resources to students and establish valuable networks with other alumni professionals. PAA is an official member of the Diversity/Outreach Council of the UCLA Alumni Association.
