Eduventures Launches New Learning Collaborative Program For Online Higher Education

Despite years of double-digit growth, enrollments in fully online programs still account for only 7 percent of all higher education enrollments in the United States. With more institutions getting into the online market, the fight for enrollments is accelerating. At the same time, students are becoming much savvier about their online options, thereby forcing institutions to find new ways to differentiate themselves from one another. In this evolving market, university leadership is searching for the next areas of opportunity to deliver their online courses and programs to those that can most benefit from them. With this as the backdrop, Eduventures LLC announced today the launch of its Learning Collaborative Program for Online Higher Education.

Already attracting a significant membership base, the Learning Collaborative Program for Online Higher Education (OHE) provides high-quality market data to executives on a cost-effective basis. Institutions combine forces and resources to generate research agendas regarding program investment and improvements, marketing strategy, and operational strategies.

OHE program members’ benefits include:

A shared-cost, member-driven research model that substantially reduces the cost of market research and best practices analysis; Continuous support from an independent team of dedicated researchers skilled in standardizing, collecting, and analyzing market research and benchmark data; and Access to an expert network of peer institutions and online education leaders to support systematic improvement to core operations.

Learning Collaborative Program in Online Higher Education

“In the dynamic marketplace of online higher education, institutional leaders need robust, nuanced data – research that informs their strategy and guides their execution,” says Peter Stokes, Executive Vice President of Eduventures and head of the Learning Collaborative Program in Online Higher Education. “This member-driven research service provides a powerful combination of independent analysis and a peer network experienced in proven and emerging practices that can expertly inform organizational decision-making.”

Supporting the research strategy for OHE is senior research analyst Richard Garrett. A recent addition to the Eduventures team, Richard is widely regarded as one of Europe’s foremost online higher education experts. Prior to joining Eduventures, Richard was deputy director of the Observatory on Borderless Higher Education in the United Kingdom, a position he held from 2001 to 2005. His research and consulting work has focused on higher education trends worldwide, particularly online learning, internationalization, and commercial activity. Among his recent publications is E-learning in Tertiary Education - Where Do We Stand?, a 2005 book commissioned by the OECD. Richard has been quoted in the London Times Higher Education Supplement, Australia’s Campus Review, and the South China Morning Post. He has also served as a researcher in the School of Education, University of Surrey, and at the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (U. K.). Richard earned both a B. A. and an M. A. from King’s College, University of London, as well as a Post-Graduate Certificate of Education from the University of Cambridge.

The Learning Collaborative in Online Higher Education follows Eduventures’ recent launch of its other Learning Collaborative Program, in Continuing and Professional Education. For more information on Eduventures’ Learning Collaborative Programs, contact Rob Brown at 617-532-6071.
