Each year, Be The Change brings together some 500 change-makers from 20+ countries - business people and social entrepreneurs; people in health, education, communities; coaches and consultants; teachers and students. To call Be The Change a ‘conference’ would somehow miss the extraordinary vitality and range of the event.

Here are some of the stories that will be told.

Finance and the Earth: a look at the impact of the financial system on the planet. Led by Sir John Whitmore, international business coach and co-founder of Be The Change and by Bernard Lietaer, the man who designed the Euro, and who brings decades of experience of the money system to bear on his call for a new, intentional, economics

The Nature of Conflict and Healing – led by Scilla Elworthy, a hugely experienced peace builder and author of Make Terrorism History; plus a group of Israelis and Arabs, coming to London direct from a life-changing 30-day trip together across the Sahara; and Gill Hicks, who lost her legs in the July 7 London bombings.

Education for a Sustainable Future: A group of experts – led by America’s leading environmental academic, David Orr – explore a radical re-thinking of education for a sustainable future. David is calling it The End of Education, no less. Other speakers from across the globe include:

Tim Flannery: One of the world’s top climate change scientists – facing, as he ends his round-the-world book tour, unprecedented fame and respect for his call to action around the future of our planet.

John Duggan: An impressive example of corporate social responsibility: a British business leader who has decided that his company (a subsidiary of Wal*Mart), and not the customer, must and will start bearing the full environmental cost of everything it builds.

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev: An Indian sage who not only challenges all the stereotypical views of a guru – he rides motorbikes and climbs mountains – he also challenges our ideas about creating change, teaching that inner peace is the foundation for global transformation.

Lindsay Levin: a UK business woman, once CEO of a major network of auto dealerships, now focused on engaging CEO’s in the realities of ngo’s and the developing world.

Stan Thekaekara: An inspirational man who has radically transformed the position of India’s poorest, the indigenous Indians –now a strong community, owning their means of production, and seeking to trade their tea directly with UK communities. Stan asks ‘What’s fair about fair trade?’

Zulfi Hussain: a group of young people visit us from Bradford, together with the British entrepreneur who has inspired and motivated them through a series of enterprise challenges.

World Café – intense discussions weaving the threads of each day, and guided by Tatiana Glad, John Whitmore and Lynne Franks (who will lead a special women’s circle on day 2).

Chloe Goodchild: On the Friday night, a unique concert by an acclaimed British voice teacher, now revealed as a passionate, inspiring force with her beautiful CD, Fierce Wisdom – plus Tim Hain and his blues/reggae band.

PeaceChild: On the final day, this international youth group will come to present a new challenge to all of us who think we can ‘Be The Change we want to see in the world.’
