– Booksurge announces the publication of Peaches and Cream: A Journey to Self-Actualization by Phyllis Haywood Lambert.

Historical fiction intensified with a touch of mystery is always entertaining. But when it is based on fact, the entertainment is quickly elevated to a level of fascination.

So it is with Peaches and Cream, A Journey to Self-Actualization, author Phyllis LambertÂ’s richly poetic narrative about her family, the Haywoods, and the drama that unfolds from the historical documents she discovered in her grandfatherÂ’s mysterious dresser drawer.

From Civil War soldier to contemporary North Carolina, Lambert leads us on a journey through the arts, culture, beliefs and habits of a time when life seemed richer and emotions rang true. Sprinkled throughout this compelling history lesson are tales of love, murder, deceit and intrigue.

This is novel about a family. Written by an educator and a professional school counselor in Moore County, North Carolina, it is also about self-actualization and manÂ’s drive to attain his highest level in the hierarchy of human needs. An ideal fit for students and teachers engaged in a study of post-Civil War life, readers will also learn about those counseling and motivational premises that define self-actualization. Additionally, Lambert has used her skills to develop more than 300 study guide questions based on learning and brain research developed at Harvard University.

Educational as this book is, Peaches and Cream is also a very good read!
