For New Year’s Resolutions and to celebrate the launch of its Needham corporate headquarters, CATZ Competitive Athlete Training Zone is introducing Family Fitness Saturdays during the month of January at each of its four Greater Boston locations, including the new 6,000 square foot prototype training facility in Needham. The event begins Saturday, January 7 from 1-3pm and costs $15 per family.
Parents with children ages 8 and older are invited to experience the newest fitness trend created in California called “Train-Like-Sport”. Originally developed for professional athletes to stay in shape and heighten athleticism, the fitness regimen has recently been adapted for fitness enthusiasts of all ages and all levels. The popular training philosophy focuses less on traditional fitness equipment and more on a fast-paced simulation of sport activity driven by a participating coach. The CATZ system matches the chaotic nature of sport and mimics its continually changing environment where a participant is required to react instantly, adjust to verbal and visual cues and respond immediately. Each program is tailored to the individual group.
CATZ is gaining popularity on a national level for its ability to bring parents and their children together for fitness, especially in the wake of devastating budget cuts to physical education. Men’s Health Magazine named CATZ one of the top gyms in America citing its success in designing programs for adults and their sons or daughters. According to Co-CEO Lars Hem. “Our original mission was to bring this fitness style to people other than pro athletes, including kids, and as a result we’ve created an opportunity to bring parents and kids together in a healthy manner that’s never been done before. We designed Family Fitness Saturdays to encourage more people to experience CATZ as a family and reach their new year’s resolutions.”
