“Green Magazine Television” will present a special program commemorating and celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day with a superstar lineup of some of America’s “greenest” companies including Verizon, Polymer Group, Inc., Navistar, Dow Corning and ZD Wines on The Discovery Channel on May 13 at 7:00 AM and on The Learning Channel on May 16 at 7:00 AM.

Verizon has always been known as the company with "The Network.” Today, Verizon is at the forefront of alleviating climate change. As a leader in energy efficiency, Verizon has invested billions of dollars in developing high-speed, fiber-optic and wireless communication networks that are fast and versatile and offer solutions to big social issues like health care, education and climate change. Over the years, Polymer Group, Inc. has developed several products that present more sustainable solutions. The company is committed to designing products that are more sustainable or ones that enable other products to become more sustainable. Their manufacturing efforts focus on creating environmentally preferred products that reduce material needs and favor the use of sustainable raw materials. Recently, Navistar was awarded a $39 million U. S. Department of Energy grant to deploy all-electric vehicles. Through this grant Navistar plans to build 400 zero-tail-pipe-emission all-electric vehicles in 2010 and expects to be producing several thousand vehicles annually within a couple of years. Dow Corning silicones and silicon-based materials are helping the world capture the energy of the sun and wind that otherwise would be wasted. Whether harnessing solar power and wind energy, helping to develop energy efficient buildings or in a multitude of other ways, Dow Corning is embracing sustainability by providing products and solutions that help improve the quality of life for people around the globe. ZD Wines uses a multi-pronged environmentally sensitive approach to grape growing and winemaking. These efforts include organic farming, solar power, recycling, and the use of earth-friendly alternatives in pursuit of their ultimate goal…the production of great tasting world-class wines.
