Twelve Young Black Men Will Change The World

Fifty-five year old mother's organization is celebrating the accomplishments of twelve young Black men in the 19th Biennial Beautillion Ball of the Austin Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.

Bill Cosby and many others in our society insist that Black boys need leadership and to have what they do that is positive celebrated. Well, the Austin Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. agrees wholeheartedly. That is why this fifty-five year old mother's organization is celebrating the accomplishments of twelve young Black men in the 19th Biennial Beautillion Ball of the Austin Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc.. The theme of the Beautillion Ball is, "Remembering the Dreamer… Perpetuating the Dream".

The Beautillion is being held June 7, 2008 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Austin, beginning at 7pm. Tickets are $60 and proceeds will be used to support the Jack & Jill of America, Inc. Beautillion Scholarship Fund. The Master of Ceremonies for the event is Darryl Mobley, creator of the "How To Create A Life Worth Living" Blueprint Workshop (www. WhyIDoWhatIDo. com) and world-renowned life coach.

The Beautillion is a celebration of twelve accomplished young African American men who have bright futures ahead of them. The young men being honored are Marquiz Baker, Jackson Gillespie, Derrick Goss, DeMar & DeOn Hall, Jamael Emanuel Harris, Kenny Henry Harris, Phillip Harris, Nicholas Haynes, Michael Johnson, Brian Parks and Mychal Lamar Williams. Each emerging leader was nominated for this honor based on academic achievement, community service and character.

The skills, experiences and exposures that will help these young men fulfill their enormous potential have been developed during the Beautillion process. The nominees were chosen in December 2007 and have been participating in activities to help them realize their greatness ever since. These activities included networking with accomplished professionals in and around Austin. These men and women helped the young men enhance their marketability with workshops like How To Dress for Success, Essential Writing Skills, and Etiquette. The young men will also each receive a generous scholarship from Jack & Jill Beaux Scholarship Fund to be used toward their education.

In keeping with the theme of the Beautillion Ball, "Remembering the Dreamer…Perpetuating the Dream," Beau Mychal Williams has big dreams. Williams, aspires to own an architectural firm. He is a born leader and says, ""You can't just have great power over people and not lead them in a positive direction. Leaders need to get people to follow them toward success." Beau Williams is a senior at David Crockett High School. He is very active at school, church and in the community. He has also been Academic All-District and a varsity football player since his sophomore year of high school.

Beautillion co-chair Wendolyn Washington says, "We have some wonderful young men in the community doing great things. The Austin Chapter of Jack & Jill of America, Inc. is happy and proud to showcase the Beaux accomplishments and talents to the world."

Shawne Dickerson, Beautillion co-chair, adds, "These young men are terrific role models and we want to help them get the attention they deserve for their outstanding achievements. We also hope that other children in the community hear about what they have done and that these young men become an inspiration to others in the community to follow their dreams and do great things. "

Jack & Jill of America, Inc. has a history of service to the community and developing promising children into leaders. Jack & Jill of America, Inc. was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1938 by Marion Stubbs Thomas with a mission of improving the quality of life of children. The Austin chapter has been carrying on that proud tradition since 1953.
