MissionWise®, the consulting division of Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C. H.E. F.®) that helps health and human service organizations become stronger and more sustainable in their efforts to eliminate health inequities, is conducting an Intellectual Property workshop today in Seattle, Washington. The session, which is jointly sponsored by Seattle-based Executive Alliance, is intended to reach executive staff and management of nonprofits, foundations, education, and government agencies.
Entitled Your Organization's Intellectual Property: Know It, Protect It, and Profit From It, the workshop is being led by co-presenters, Larry Clark, President and CEO of C. H.E. F., and Ned Schaub, Partnership Development Director of MissionWise. The session starts by introducing the notion that many health and human service organizations possess intellectual assets (including trademarks, patents, and copyrights) that represent potential sources of revenue. It then explains how these organizations are often unaware of this untapped potential and the risks that are involved in not protecting their intellectual property. Importantly, consideration is then given to many of the different forms of intellectual property, which participants are then able to address, assess, and apply to their own organizations.
"There is significant interest and desire by health and human service organizations of all kinds to better understand Intellectual Property and its application to many public sector products, services, and programs," said Larry Clark, C. H.E. F.'s President and CEO. "MissionWise conducts a series of workshops on a wide variety of topics related to social enterprise, and this one is always popular. In Seattle, nearly thirty organizations are attending this informative, practical, and useful workshop, and we look forward to helping them identify untapped opportunities to achieve stronger outcomes by considering the application of Intellectual Property to their mission and programs." Clark and his MissionWise team are uniquely qualified to address the topic of Intellectual Property because their own organization, Comprehensive Health Education Foundation, has made it an integral and important discipline for more than thirty years.
