On Monday, July 10, the men of the Alpha Eta Lambda (Houston) graduate chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., will host the 2006 3rd annual ALPHA GOLF CLASSIC at the Southwyck Golf Course. The event is open to the public and to all greek letter organizations. Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the Alpha Merit Educational Foundation. At-Large Houston city council member Ronald C. Green is the honorary chair for the event and the tournament chair is L. Andre Humphery.

About Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.:
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is an intercollegiate Greek letter fraternity that was established for men in 1906 on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Alpha is the oldest Black fraternity in the U. S. and was founded by seven founders known as the JEWELS. The fraternity maintains a national agenda of service in all areas. In 1927, the Alpha Eta Lambda graduate chapter of the fraternity was established. In 1972 it created the Alpha Merit Educational Foundation (AMEF), which provides scholarships to Houston area students. Additional programs sponsored by Alpha Eta Lambda include: “Go to High School, Go to College”, “Toy Dance” (Christmas Black Tie fundraiser), “MLK Memorial Project”, “March of Dimes Walk for America” and “Brother’s Keeper” (Program that assists elderly Alphas and their widows).
