Shady Grove Fertility Center Raises $95,000 to Help Families Afford Fertility Treatment or Adoption
Monies Raised Through 2010 Fundraiser Exceed 2009 Event By 50%

On September 26, Shady Grove Fertility presented the Cade Foundation’s Annual Race For The Family raising $95,000 to help fund grants for couples who need infertility treatments or adoption services. The Cade Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping infertile couples through education, community awareness and financial assistance. At the finish line, the Cade Foundation raffled off a free fertility treatment cycle donated by Shady Grove Fertility to a resident from Ellicott City, Maryland.
Nearly 7.5 million American couples have difficulty achieving a pregnancy or bringing one to full term. Many of these couples may not have the financial resources to afford fertility treatment or adoption services. By being the presenting sponsor of the Cade Foundation’s annual race, Shady Grove Fertility Center has provided a resource to couples who may need the financial assistance for their family building journey.
"The funds raised through Race for the Family will help couples in our area and beyond fulfill their dreams of starting a family," said Frank Chang, M. D., a Shady Grove Fertility Center board-certified endocrinologist and Cade Foundation board member. "Shady Grove is dedicated to offering innovative financing options and assistance for couples seeking fertility treatment, and we are thrilled to once again partner with the Cade Foundation to help more couples afford the treatment they need to have a family."
More than 175 runners completed the 5K race, and 150 walkers completed a one mile fun walk. More than 100 volunteers worked to make the event successful. In 2009, Race for the Family raised over $60,000 and helped fund family-building options for six couples. Of those, four are currently pregnant and a fifth is in the process of adopting a child.
Shady Grove Fertility has many financial programs designed to make fertility treatment affordable for more couples. These programs include: Shared Risk 100% Refund which provides up to six IVF treatment cycles for one flat fee with a guaranteed full refund if a baby is not delivered; and Shared Help Fertility Treatment Discount Program which offers financial discounts on fertility treatments to income-eligible patients.
