SVSi Announces voLANte VDR-106 Networked Digital Video Recorder

Southern Vision System, Inc. (SVSi) today announced a networked digital video recorder capable of recording up to four hours of high-resolution, HD content over an Ethernet LAN. Fully compatible with all SVSi voLANte™ video-over-LAN products, the voLANte VDR-106 receives video on the network during record mode. It can then transmit video on the network during playback. The voLANte VDR-106 is ideal for educational institutions, houses of worship, or corporate campuses that want to simultaneously distribute live video through a facility and record it for future network transmission or other delivery methods. SVSi will demonstrate the voLANte VDR-106 at Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas, NV February 25-26, 2009, booth 1046.
"If a facility needs to stream live video of an event to other places on their campus over their voLANte network, and they also want to record that event, then the VDR-106 greatly streamlines that process," explains Andy Whitehead, president of SVSi. "For example, a church can record sermons, burn those to DVDs, and then send them to home-bound parishioners. Businesses could use it for teleconference logging or surveillance recording across the video LAN. Retail advertising networks can use the record function for verification of display advertisements."
Easy Deployment
This latest addition to the SVSi voLANte digital video LAN product line further underscores the simplicity of setting up a digital signage network with voLANte components. With its small footprint (10" x 4.5" x 12"), the voLANte VDR-106 can be easily transported and attached to any voLANte transmitter or receiver via Cat-5 cable. voLANte Conductor™ management software then recognizes the VDR-106 and allows the user to select the particular video stream to record, schedule start and stop times, and record continuously for up to four hours. Users have the choice of viewing VDR-106 recordings immediately after a recording is finished or storing the recording in DVD format for future playback. Like other voLANte transmitters, the VDR-106 can send video to an unlimited number of displays while retaining synchronization across the network.
