Brookfield, WI (PRWEB) August 12, 2008

HarrisData announces it will deliver Bulletin Boards and Wikis to its User Community using PHP-based technology. The HarrisData Customer Zone, powered by the IBM i, is an online forum for HarrisData and RTI software users to share experiences and information.

The new HarrisData Customer Zone is comprised of: a Self-Service Zone for support activities, an Education Zone for documentation and other educational materials, the Community Zone for voicing opinions, and the hdWiki with pragmatic information about how best to use HarrisData software. The new HarrisData Customer Zone is a direct response to requests from the HarrisData Community to further enhance communication and knowledge sharing among all members of the Community. "The availability of applications such as bulletin boards and wikis on the IBM i platform was critical in our ability to deliver the new functionality quickly and cost effectively," stated Lane Nelson, President of HarrisData.

The first generation of the HarrisData Customer Zone provided an excellent vehicle for publishing documents to its Community, but was lacking in functionality to allow for user collaboration. With the new capabilities of the IBM Power i platform, HarrisData is now able to provide an open source environment for its customers, partners, and staff.

"HarrisData's use of PHP for its new customer collaboration environment is a strong indication of its commitment to providing a leading edge environment for its customers. We are glad HarrisData chose the IBM i as a strategic choice, given the openness of the platform and its exceptional business value," said Steve Biondi, IBM Vice President, Business Systems Midmarket. "As a member of IBM's Vertical Industry Program, we look forward to continued success with HarrisData."

The hdWiki is an electronic encyclopedia or practical knowledge on using and implementing HarrisData and RTI Software. It's collaboratively built on the experiences of members, and is powered by software from Zend Technologies. Jim Dillard, IBM Alliance Manager at Zend Technologies said, "HarrisData is showing their customers the power of PHP and the IBM i to deliver solutions quickly and reliably. With a combination of PHP-based open source applications and custom-built applications, the HarrisData Customer Zone proves that PHP and the IBM i deliver real value."

Self-service capabilities of the HarrisData Customer Zone include 24 hour a day access to incident reporting and history, thereby reducing the amount of time it takes HarrisData staff to resolve an issue. The HarrisData knowledgebase includes documented issues and resolutions, allowing users to locate information about similar concerns. Customers can also download available software fixes, and maintain company profiles. The Education Zone hosts reference libraries of searchable documentation in both html and pdf format, for HarrisData and RTI products. The Education Zone also provides one-click registration for activities such as monthly webinars, training, and annual User Conferences. The Community Zone hosts a series of forums where users can express opinions about system requirements for enhancements, comment on new system designs, and hold lively discussions.

The HarrisData Customer Zone provides unique and powerful functions to help maintain HarrisData and RTI Software at peak efficiency. Contributions are kept confidential within the Community as the HarrisData Customer Zone is hosted on a secure web site, using a Verisign certificate as the basis for encryption.

The HarrisData Customer Zone has allowed its users a unique opportunity to shape the future of HarrisData's products. This forward-looking idea is just another example of how HarrisData is truly a customer focused company.
