The Internet Makes Applying for Credit Cards Easier

The Internet Makes Applying for Credit Cards Easier

Creditor Web utilizes the power of the Internet to make learning about and applying for credit cards easier for consumers.

(PRWEB) May 4, 2005

For some people, the Internet has become such an integral part of life that itÂ’s difficult to remember how they ever got buy without it. It has revolutionized several aspects of life such as booking trips, buying gifts, performing research and keeping in contact with friends. It is also changing the way we apply for credit cards.

Just a decade ago when someone wanted to apply for credit it meant either taking a trip to their local bank and filling out paper applications or calling several creditors. This made applying for a credit card a very time-consuming process.

Now, one can find almost all the data needed about a credit card by simply visiting the website of the issuer. The problem is that many people only compare the credit cards offered by one or two companies before making a decision. This can result in not getting the best rate or not being approved.

Creditor Web, http://www. creditorweb. com (http://www. creditorweb. com) has launched a new website designed to simplify this process. This website provides the visitor with the capability to search the credit card offerings of multiple issuers at once based on several criteria such as interest rate, rewards and credit score. The site then displays the search results with the important criteria about each card needed to make an educated decision.

Visitors can also find helpful articles about applying for and using credit cards wisely in Creditor Web’s Education Center. “The idea is that users can have a single location to educate themselves about credit cards before making a decision,” said Jeremy Zongker, President of Creditor Web, “…once the visitor is armed with this knowledge, we then provide the resources he or she needs to find the card they are looking for.”

Experts agree it is important for anyone to educate themselves about the process and compare their options before making any major financial decision. Websites such as Creditor Web, http://www. creditorweb. com (http://www. creditorweb. com) have utilized the power of the Internet to make this process easier.

(PRWEB) April 29, 2003

CAMARILLO, Calif., April 29, 2002 - The Ventura County Scout Council today announced that Bob Brooks, Ventura County Sheriff, has been appointed as the new president of the executive board of the Ventura County Scout Council. "I am pleased to have the opportunity to lead this fine organization which has served Ventura County residents for over 90 years," said Brooks about his appointment. "During my term as president, I will focus on increasing the availability of traditional scouting programs in the under served minority communities of Ventura County through churches and schools; assisting the Learning for Life program in establishing a permanent financial base that will allow it to expand its programs, and refocusing the efforts of the Council¡¦s dedicated volunteers toward promoting and funding scouting activities. I look forward to the challenge and am grateful for the assistance of the council's dedicated staff and volunteers."

A 29-year veteran of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department, Brooks was elected Sheriff and appointed by the Board of Supervisors to begin his term on June 27, 1998. "At a recent church service dedicated to praying for the safety of our troops, Simi Valley Boy Scouts provided a color guard and bugler for the presentation of our flag," said Brooks. "As I watched them lead us in pledging our allegiance to this great land, I was moved by the symbolism of the moment. These young Scouts represented the values that make our nation great and also the hope for the future of our democracy. I was so proud of them and encouraged by knowing that they and thousand of other local Scouts will make America even stronger and better in coming years."

Brooks received his bachelor's degree in public administration from the University of Redlands and his master's degree in organizational management from Regent University. Active-aging Industry Grows Services for Older Adults

Active-aging Industry Grows Services for Older Adults

New survey from International Council on Active Aging® shows a 51% increase in wellness programs for older adults.

Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) October 4, 2010

The economic news this year has generally focused on the standstill in production and consumer spending. Despite this environment, the active-aging industry is slowly but steadily growing, according to new research from International Council on Active Aging® (ICAA), the association that provides services and business intelligence for professionals working with people 50 years and older.

Active aging means living live as fully as possible, with opportunities for health, productivity and safety. The active-aging industry was created when ICAA brought together diverse business sectors—from real estate to seniors services and fitness—by recognizing their mutual purpose of providing services to older adults. The industry’s emphasis on quality of life among older adults has resulted in an abundance of Wii tournaments and strength training classes, expeditions to China, volunteer tutors in inner city schools, age-friendly modifications to treadmills and universal design features in new housing.

The ICAA 2010 Active-Aging Industry Development Survey collected information from 640 respondents to an online survey who work primarily in retirement communities, seniors centers, wellness centers, health clubs and additional locations that provide services for older adults. These providers of services to older adults reported a surge of optimism and service growth.
Over three-quarters (77%) of respondents plan to add more activities, classes or programs over the next two years. This is a 51% increase from the responses to the identical questions that appeared on an earlier ICAA survey, conducted one year ago, when half (51%) of respondents stated they were adding in the next 12 months (ICAA Economy Survey, July 2009, 489 respondents).

The growth in program offerings is complemented by jobs creation: 27% plan to hire more wellness staff over the next two years.

Capital projects are being planned by 41% of respondents, including building new wellness centers and expanding or renovating current wellness and fitness facilities. Retirement communities are refurbishing or building new residences.

“While the larger economy may be suffering from a cold, the active-aging industry is in good health,” explained Colin Milner, CEO of International Council on Active Aging. “From the business perspective, the market of older adults is large and growing, and overall older adults have a net worth that enables them to make choices to maintain their health and keep their days interesting. The results of this survey show that businesses are positioning themselves to meet those needs, by building and upgrading facilities and expanding their programs.”

The ICAA 2010 Active-Aging Industry Development Survey is available for $149. The survey is free of charge to ICAA Organizational members, and at a discounted rate to ICAA Individual members. Member of the media may contact Colin Milner at colinmilner(at)icaa(dot)cc for copies of the survey.

About the survey

The ICAA 2010 Active-Aging Industry Development Survey was an online survey available from July 17 through August 14, 2010. Respondents included continuing care retirement communities (24%), active adult and independent living retirement communities (24%), independent living with assisted living and assisted living communities (13%), seniors centers (13%), health club or medically-based wellness/fitness centers (10%) and other locations. Among the 640 respondents; 65% have a formal wellness program for older adults and 29% offered wellness activities, but not a formal program.

About the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA)
Http://www. icaa. cc

ICAA, a professional association that leads, connects and defines the active-aging industry, supports professionals who develop wellness facilities, programs and services for adults over 50. The association is focused on active aging—an approach to aging that helps older adults live life as fully as possible within all dimensions of wellness—and provides its members with education, information, resources and tools.

As an active-aging educator and advocate, ICAA has advised numerous organizations and governmental bodies, including the US Administration on Aging, the National Institute on Aging (one of the US National Institutes of Health), the US Department of Health and Human Services, Canada ’s Special Senate Committee on Aging, and the British Columbia ministries of Health, and Healthy Living and Sport.

How can we protect children from sexual abuse? SOhopeful has some answers

How can we protect children from sexual abuse? SOhopeful has some answers

Each year thousands in of children in America are sexually abused, but there are viable, effective, and fiscally responsible ways to spare many from this experience.

(PRWEB) August 12, 2005

Sexual abuse, and especially child sexual abuse, is a heinous crime and is inexcusable. But there are basic strategies and methods to protect children from abuse and victimization – first and foremost being good family relationships and constant communication, the second being parental supervision.

With that in mind, there are several programs that can be implemented to intervene, to actually stop someone from abusing in the first place, and to halt existing abuse.

Many adults who have sexually abused children have stated that their inappropriate thought patterns began in early puberty. Had there been intervention at that time, those deviant thought patterns would not have become ingrained and they may never have sexually abused a child.

Many juvenile offenders have very poor personal boundaries, due to lack of healthy boundaries at home, and are therefore unable to recognize and respect the boundaries of others.

When asked about juvenile offenders and their experience in the system, Carolyn Ferguson (Executive Director of SOhopeful International Inc.) stated, "It is unwise in the long-run to immediately escort these young people directly into the court system, where they may face shame-based treatment programs, which can be extremely damaging to their developing identity and self image."

Since our children are bombarded daily with so many sexually oriented mixed messages from our media, it naturally leads to confusion. There are sex education classes in public schools, but they cover only the biological processes and sexually transmitted diseases. Teens usually get their information about sexuality from peers, movies, music or other questionable sources. Currently, there is no venue for teens to go to get information about sexuality relating to appropriate boundaries, what is normal, what is not, and where the "line" is between them.

SOhopeful has some proposals to stop sexual abuse before it starts.

Carolyn explained one:

"It makes sense, then to create a program that is a confidential avenue for young teens to ask questions, to discuss healthy boundaries and appropriate behavior and the legalities of sexual behavior. It could also be an opportunity to usher a young person with unhealthy thought patterns and inappropriate behaviors towards counseling and positive programs that would be more personal and in-depth about learning how to interact with their peers in a non-sexual way, and help them to grow up psychosexually healthy. Not only does the juvenile get attention in this area, the parents and siblings could use the help, too.

"The goal is to stop those inappropriate thoughts from becoming ingrained patterns and incorporated into their personality and identity. Most of these kids can be realigned and assisted to grow up healthy, families can be strengthened and unified, our communities and everyone benefits."

This could be done at a minimum of cost.

Likewise, there are common-sense strategies to improve the management and tracking of actual sex offenders who pose a high-risk to the public. SOhopeful International has a plan to strengthen the sex offender registry in a way that respects the rights of victims, protects the public, and is fiscally responsible.

For information on this strategy and more, visit www. sohopeful. org. Be sure to look at the documentation in the Library at www. sohopeful. org/forum (http://www. sohopeful. org/forum).
