Research Reveals Vision Classroom Management Software Improves Student Achievement

Research Reveals Vision Classroom Management Software Improves Student Achievement

Teachers Use Vision to Capture Student Attention, Increase Instructional Time, Eliminate Discipline Problems

Portland, Ore., & Langenthal, Switzerland (PRWEB) April 23, 2008

A recent independent research study reveals that student grades improve significantly when an instructor uses classroom management software (http://www. Genevalogic. com). The study found that the overall classroom environment is improved when software, such as Vision, is used to eliminate distractions and prevent behavior problems. Schools using Vision in the classroom also report that instructional time increases, subject comprehension improves and individualized instruction is enhanced.

The research, summarized in the paper, "The Big Brother and Better Early College Grades," was presented at the 2008 Southern Association for Information Systems Conference, conducted by Robert Joyce, from Elon University, Elon, N. C.; and Harald Schmidl, from Central Carolina Community College, Sanford, N. C.

"The essence of our findings is that, when properly used, a classroom management system can lead to significant improvement of grades," their conclusions stated. "The classroom management system should not only be used to control student work. Instead, it should be an active instructional tool that the instructor utilizes to enhance student learning."

The two computer science faculty members conducted this empirical study over two semesters while teaching Introduction to Computers courses to high school age students. Their conclusions led Central Carolina Community College to buy a site license for Vision6 and install it in all instructional computer labs.

A new GenevaLogic case study featuring Joliet Junior College reinforces the results of this study. Faculty members at the two-year Illinois community college use Vision to make the most of teaching with technology. The result has been a marked improvement in student achievement as well as improved teaching.

"We have found that test scores and student retention have increased overall as a result of using Vision," said Gregory Pakieser, a professor in the school's Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) program. "When you can control the learning environment and have students watch what you're doing, it improves your teaching."

Educators also report that using Vision6 increases instructional time because many discipline issues are eliminated and time-consuming tasks, such as distributing files to students, are completed more quickly.

The experience of Jennifer Wandzel, business education teacher at Clarenceville High School, in Livonia, Mich., exemplifies this finding. She said, "Classroom management software has been the best tool provided to me in my teaching career. I spend more time teaching and less time disciplining. I have seen an improvement in scores and an improvement in the attitude of my students."

Launched in 1996, Vision is currently used in more than 50,000 classrooms worldwide. Vision6 is the easy-to-use classroom management software that empowers teachers and trainers to guide and supervise student computer activity from the instructor's computer screen. Teachers use Vision6 to enhance learning, supervise student progress, monitor or prevent Web browsing, share computer screens and remotely control student computers.

A short video demonstrating the ways that Vision6 can be used to improve student learning is available at www. genevalogic. com/movie (http://www. genevalogic. com/movie). Infinite Health Resources Launches Health Information Web Site, Providing Healthy Recipes, Organic Products and More

Newly launched online health information site, www. InfiniteHealthResources. com, provides users with healthy recipes, tools for healthy living, access to useful articles and much more.

New York, NY (PRWEB) November 28, 2005

Infinite Health Resources announces the launch of its Web site, providing online health information and other resources for those interested in healthy living. As the new site states, the company's mission is to make the Web site a "source of information that will be adopted by all of us today and for our children tomorrow."

The site's founder, Thomas Affatato, felt it was vital to create a site that could inform people and give them the information necessary to lead a healthy life. "With rising childhood diseases such as diabetes and obesity, increasing breast cancer rates among women as well as so many other serious health issues, the time has come to take control of our health and the health of our loved ones," says Affatato.

The online health information site features four main educational links, including "Health Center," "Dieting," "Recipes" and "Tools." The Health Center provides various articles and health information designed to educate and help readers stay up to date on healthy living (http://www. infinitehealthresources. com/Store/Resource/Cat/1/1.html). The articles are categorized under topics such as Children's Nutrition, Reconnective Healing, Disease Prevention and Whole and Organic Foods.

The "Dieting" section is focused on teaching people about healthy eating and lifestyle dieting instead of promoting diet fads – there are no gimmicks or "lose 100 pounds in 30 days" tricks. Because Infinite Health Resources believes that a sustainable "diet" is a lifestyle change, the site's featured articles are meant to provide people with the knowledge necessary to successfully make that change.

The "Recipes" section features cooking tips and delicious, quick and healthy recipes (http://www. infinitehealthresources. com/Store/Resource/Cat/1-13/2.html) using whole foods and organic ingredients that do not contain artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, etc.

The "Tools" provided allow users to calculate their Body Mass Index (BMI), Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), body fat percentage as well as the statistical risk of coronary heart disease. Also available are an online medical dictionary, MyPyramid Food Guidance System and MyPyramid Tracker (an online dietary and physical assessment tool).

The site's Infinite Health e-Store (http://www. infinitehealthresources. com/Store/Products/Home. html) provides a unique variety of products, including:

Healthy Foods Personal Care Natural Supplements Pet Products Books and CDs Light Therapy Products

"Our e-store has everything from organic cosmetics to organic pet food," Affatato says. "And purchasing from the e-store will benefit the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine and its affiliate, The Cancer Project. We will donate five percent of profits to The Cancer Project (www. CancerProject. com).

Wildlife Biologist Creates Buckscore Wildlife Management

Wildlife Biologist Creates Buckscore Wildlife Management

Registered wildlife biologist, Emily Flinn, is proud to announce the development of Buckscore Wildlife Management.

La Grange, KY (PRWEB) October 6, 2010

Registered wildlife biologist, Emily Flinn, is proud to announce the development of Buckscore Wildlife Management.

Buckscore Wildlife Management is a science-based, wildlife and habitat management company assisting landowners, lease holders and hunt clubs in reaching their hunting, habitat and wildlife management objectives. Buckscore Wildlife Management (BWM) provides technical guidance based on the three main components of a successful property: herd/population, hunter, and habitat management. Through a wide variety of traditional and innovative management techniques, BWM is capable of custom-tailoring their consulting services to fit the needs of both small recreational landowners as well as large hunting outfits.

“I was raised in central Kentucky where I grew up hunting and fishing. It was here I first developed a passion for wildlife,” stated Emily Flinn, lead wildlife biologist with BWM. “This motivates me to provide sound wildlife and habitat management for land managers and hunters in order to achieve their individual goals and create memorable outdoor experiences for generations to come.”

Flinn earned her Bachelor of Science (B. S.) from Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) majoring in wildlife management. Under the direction of Dr. Steve Demarais at Mississippi State University (MSU), she received her Master of Science (M. S.) in wildlife and fisheries with a focus on white-tailed deer management. In addition to gaining extensive background in game management and ecology, she also obtained knowledge of captive deer facilities, deer handing and sedation, artificial insemination, and the deer breeding industry. Flinn is a registered Wildlife Biologist (AWB®) with The Wildlife Society.

Buckscore Wildlife Management is based in La Grange, Kentucky, and is a sister company of Buckscore™ deer measurement system. Buckscore™ is an educational and data collection tool for biologists and deer hunters. Developed by scientists and biologists with Mississippi State University’s Deer Ecology and Management Lab the software allows users to estimate antler size of photographed white-tailed deer. The program uses a unique set of physical features, as well as statistically-derived, models to achieve accurate estimates. The software was developed using white-tailed deer from across North America. A user can trace the antlers of their photographed buck and the program will transform the two-dimensional measurements into three-dimensional estimates.
