Cosmetology School Volunteers Services for Long Beach Women’s Group

Students of Garden Grove’s Career Academy of Beauty to provide complimentary beauty services for Women’s Self Esteem and Motivation Group of the Long Beach Unified School District.

Garden Grove, CA (PRWEB) March 1, 2006

Garden Grove’s very own Career Academy of Beauty has offered its services to the District Parent Resource Center-Butler of the Long Beach Unified School District.

Throughout the year, LBUSD’s Mari Giannopoulos coaches moms of all ages and backgrounds through a 6-week self esteem and motivation building program. Mrs. Giannopoulos shares,” a mother’s self esteem is not only of personal importance but of great importance to their child’s academic success. Enriched parent education paves the way to successful child learning. Motivated moms motivate their children to learn and reap the benefits of all that education has to offer.”

This year’s ‘feel good’ field trip: a morning retreat for 10 women of the program to receive complimentary services at the Academy, where all work is done under licensed supervision. “It’s wonderful to see what a small beauty service can do to one’s self esteem - how even a minute change of image can bring about a radiant smile, more confident posture and general sense of well being, but most of all it pleases me to be able to volunteer my time for a better cause.” says, Y. Batsaras, current student and long time volunteer.

The services will be provided by ten volunteer cosmetology students who jumped at the opportunity to share their beauty expertise and warm TLC. Supervisor, Yolanda Duran shared, “I think that this is a wonderful idea and as a beauty professional, to be involved in an ever changing industry where one could affect the outer and inner well being of others is a blessing. This is a promising trade, with much to offer. As an advocate for student learning words could not express my enthusiasm for what this field has yet to offer.”
