The Aging of Texans and the need for Elder Options!

The Aging of Texans and the need for Elder Options!

(PRWEB) February 2, 2001

AUSTIN, TEXAS - January 30, 2001 - Cheryl Culbertson, founder announces the launch of Elder Options of Texas, a senior information and portal website, and one of the most comprehensive for locating senior housing options, elder care resources, and community based services within the state of TEXAS. Searches can be conducted by category, city, county or zip code. For-profit and Not-for-profit agencies are listed as well.

Information is currently available online featuring the Austin and surrounding areas of San Marcos, Dripping Springs, Wimberley, Bastrop, Smithville, as well as Georgetown, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Leander, Marble Falls, Temple, and Killeen. In addition, several San Antonio resources are listed as well, including the surrounding areas of Kerrville, Fredericksburg, New Braunfels, and Seguin. The Houston, and Dallas/Fort Worth areas are being added at this time, with many other Texas cities being included very soon.

CompanyÂ’s and agencies can also submit their own information, FREE of charge, as long as they are located in Texas.

Nowadays, itÂ’s not uncommon for many to find themselves in the position of being a "long distant caregiver, and in need of information, services and/or resources due to a loved ones failing health and/or lifestyle changes. Often times, they don't know where, or even how, to begin the search. Then there is the issue of finding the time...

On another note, senior adults themselves are one of the fastest growing segments of the population accessing the Internet, seeking information for their personal needs. They too will find an abundance of information about retirement and housing options, long term insurance, Texas Reverse Mortgages, and many other useful resources.

Although the aging of the baby boomer generation won't impact the state of Texas fully until approximately 2015, the senior age group is already growing faster than the general population. It's a fact that most elderly people would rather live at home than in a nursing facility. Yet many Texas families are often unaware of their non-institutional options when parents or other relatives need care or a little help during the day. As a result, many seniors enter nursing homes when they could have stayed at home.

This is the goal of Elder Options of Texas... to help families, caregivers, and senior adults, seeking elder care services and information, to be able to find what they are looking for, quickly. Not only are retirement communities, assisted living facilities and nursing homes listed, but many other types of senior resources that are often needed...but difficult to locate.

These include:

Senior transportation services

Personal service companies (sitter, homemaker, companion services, etc.)

Caregiver support groups

Senior activity centers

Community outreach programs (including home delivered meals, Weatherization programs, care calls, etc.)

There are also home health care agencies, caregiver resources, home and community based services, adult day care facilities, Alzheimer's and related dementia care facilities, case management services, moving and downsizing services, respite care providers, assistive devices and mobility aids, elder law information, and several other categories to choose from.

In addition to these search capabilities the Elder Options of Texas website also includes:

THE SENIOR CORNER, featuring a variety of informative and educational articles;
