The Climate Project Hosts First Ever Latin America Summit, Debuts New Online Presence

The Climate Project Hosts First Ever Latin America Summit, Debuts New Online Presence

Al Gore's non-profit continues to build international momentum with latest summit and website.

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) September 28, 2009

Former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore will train 300 people hailing from more the 21 Latin American countries including Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad, and Colombia to become the first Climate Project (TCP) Presenters in the region.

The summit opened today in Mexico City and will run from September 28th - 30th. Mr. Gore, along with other international experts, will train people from all walks of life to talk to their networks, peers, and communities about the climate crisis. This summit also marks the establishment of TCP Mexico in association with Pronatura, a non-profit organization headquartered in Mexico City.

Latin America is an important next step for TCP. From Brazil's Amazon and Mexico's wetlands to the glaciers of the Andes and the coral reefs of the Caribbean - the urgency of climate education and awareness in Latin America is undeniable. "The citizens of this region need to be informed about climate change and engaged in the issue," said TCP Executive Director Jenny Clad. "After the summit, the new TCP Presenters will return to their countries and communities ready to take on this challenge."

TCP Latin American Presenters will become dynamic leaders in their region's ongoing conversations about land use, energy policy, and emissions measures. They will be active participants in solving the climate crisis not just in their home country, but worldwide.

This event will mark the third TCP Summit held in just four months. Both the North American Summit in May and the Asia Pacific Summit in July played a major role in generating domestic and international momentum for TCP, which now has eight official branches: USA, Australia, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, India, Indonesia, and now Mexico.

To help coordinate these efforts, TCP today unveiled a new website (http://www. theclimateproject. org (http://www. theclimateproject. org)) where citizens around the world can learn how to get involved in their region. The site identifies where TCP has volunteers internationally and provides a way to unify TCP's growing movement.

If you'd like to host a TCP presentation in your community, please visit http://www. theclimateproject. org/presentation. php (http://www. theclimateproject. org/presentation. php). If you're interested in requesting a presentation in Australia, Canada, India, Spain, or the UK, please visit these countries' websites, which can also be found at http://www. theclimateproject. org/presentation. php (http://www. theclimateproject. org/presentation. php).

Book Of The Month Selected By Allbooks Review: "Eagles Over Berlin" By Kati Fabian, A New Historical Fiction About The Berlin Airlift

Book Of The Month Selected By Allbooks Review: "Eagles Over Berlin" By Kati Fabian, A New Historical Fiction About The Berlin Airlift

The new historical novel about the Berlin Airlift, "Eagles Over Berlin - Flight For Love And Freedom", has been selected as Allbooks Review's Book of the Month.

Culver City, CA (PRWEB) April 11, 2006

Allbooks Review, chosen one of 101 Best Websites for Writers two years in a row by Writer's Digest Magazine selected "Eagles Over Berlin - Flight For Love And Freedom", the new historical novel about the Berlin Airlift as Book of the Month. Shirley A. Roe, Managing Editor of Allbooks Review has obtained considerable recognition in the industry. Allbooks reviewer Elaine Fuhr called the book a "fascinating and entertaining story". See the Feature at www. allbookreviews. com

"John and Esther fall in love. It sounds like a simple story line but it is not.

John, American pilot during the Second World War, and Esther, survivor of the holocaust, meet at a volatile time in history, and their love supports and carries them through difficult times beyond their control. But this is not just a love story. It is a look into a time in history that few people understand. The Second World War was officially over but the Cold War was in its infancy, during which time, the Soviet Army blockaded West Berlin, an attempt to force communism on over two million people. Esther refused John’s offer to escape the difficulties of this time and insisted on making the one decision that she could make on her own. Up until that time, everything that had happened to her was out of her control. She stayed in Berlin to help the cause, while John flew for the Airlift, transporting vital supplies that would save the lives of many in West Berlin.

Author, Kati Fabian’s life had been affected by the Cold War years and her interest in finding the truth about a little talked about subject led her to write Eagles Over Berlin. She has filled the pages of this well written novel with facts that few would know, but softens the pain and fear with a love story that transcends the horror. This is a story of love, devastation, optimism and grief. But in many ways, it is an education. This reviewer better understands the workings of the Cold War and highly recommends "Eagles Over Berlin" to all those interested in learning more about this period of history. We must again make a stand against terrorism and it is heartening to be reminded that with perseverance, teamwork and love, there will be success."

For more information about the book, please visit the dedicated web site: www. eaglesoverberlin. com. The book is available in bookstores, on online, and worldwide distributed by Amazon.

Enjoy the reading!

Florence, KY (PRWEB) November 20, 2006

Northern Kentucky Bar Association will hold its annual Gala/Dinner Dance on December 1, 2006. The NKBA is honored to announce that it will present awards to two prominent Northern Kentucky attorneys and in addition will honor seven distinguished and retiring Judges at the event.

The Distinguished Lawyer Award

William T. "Bill" Robinson, III, director of the Northern Kentucky Office of Greenbaum Doll and McDonald, is this year's recipient of the NKBA's Distinguished Lawyer Award. Mr. Robinson is a nationally recognized legal, community and charitable leader. His career that is rooted in Northern Kentucky has benefited local, regional, and national constituencies for more than 35 years. One of Bill's former partners, E. Andre Busald said, "Some say Bill is the Tiger Woods of lawyers; I say Tiger Woods is the Bill Robinson of golfers."

Lifetime Achievement Award

Asa Rouse, of Walton, is this year's recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. A well known Northern Kentucky historian and attorney of 41 years, Mr. Rouse retired from practicing law in 1994. Mr. Rouse is honored for many successful years as a trial lawyer, his skills beyond the courtroom, his commitment to justice, and his positive influence upon many lawyers who looked to him as a role model.

Distinguished and Retiring Judges

The following retiring or recently retired judges will be honored: Donald Wintersheimer, Kentucky Supreme Court Justice; Daniel Guidugli, Kentucky Court of Appeals; William Wehr and Leonard Kopowski, Campbell County; Frank Trusty and Douglas Stephens, Kenton County; and William Probus, Harrison County.

These distinguished jurists served the cause of justice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky extraordinarily well. Their dedication to our community cannot be catalogued in this short space. These judges' profound impact upon lawyers appearing before them, victims whose integrity they protected, and defendants who received fairness, cannot be overstated. These seven men, and the offices they faithfully served, are universally respected by the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and the thousands who have appeared in their courtrooms through the years.
